Pembina Valley Twisters Scholarships

Dear Twister Prospect,

On behalf of the Pembina Valley Twisters (MMJHL), we would like to invite you to our Fall Tryout Camp September 5,6,7. During this camp the coaches will assess your skills and pick their roster of players to play with the Pembina Valley Twisters. After the Tryout Camp approximately 30 players will be asked to be part of our exhibition schedule.

What is the MMJHL? The MMJHL was developed to provide a place for young men aged 17-21 to play the most competitive hockey possible while continuing their education or commit to full time work. The MMJHL is a 10 team league. There are eight city teams plus one team in Stonewall and us in Morris. We have a 45 game season starting in late September. Playoffs end in late April.

Who are the Pembina Valley Twisters? The Twisters have been in the MMJHL since 2001 and have won 3 league championships. The current (as of 2016) owners of the Pembina Valley Twisters are: Pat Schmitke, Corey Wall, Shawn Graydon, Darren Skog and Ang Wall. On top of playing in one of the nicest facilities in the league, The Morris Multiplex, having the biggest fan base, the Twisters also have their own team dressing room that is exclusive to the team where the players can leave their equipment in their stalls during the season.

What does the season look like? Typical weekly schedule during the season would have 2 games, 1 practice. Additional practices would be added throughout the season during breaks in the schedule. A full schedule would be provided at the start of the season to allow players to plan around work/school. Scholarship opportunities are available from both the league and team for players attending post-secondary schools. A maximum of 20 players dress per game however we carry 23 players to allow for school/work commitments and injuries.

There is a cost for tryouts ($140) and player fees for the season. Sponsorship opportunities are available to offset costs. If you would like to attend our Fall Tryout Camp please RSVP (see RVSP form on reverse). If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact:
